The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has officially expanded its global footprint with the launch of Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt. This milestone marks the iconic brand’s first-ever entry into Continental Europe, reinforcing its strategic growth in key international gateway cities.

The opening breathes new life into the former Grandhotel Hessischer Hof, one of Frankfurt’s most prestigious luxury properties, which closed at the end of 2020. Now returned to the city’s vibrant landscape, the hotel blends legendary Indian hospitality with timeless European elegance.

A Landmark Restoration and Design

Located at one of Frankfurt’s most sought-after addresses, the 126-key property has undergone a thoughtful restoration led by Hamburg-based interior architecture studio JOI-Design.

The transformation successfully honors the building’s established character by retaining original features such as classic parquet flooring, rich wood paneling, and marble accents. Furthermore, these historic details are beautifully complemented by expressive colors, tactile fabrics, and curated artwork.

The hotel features 117 guestrooms and nine suites distributed across eight categories. Notably, seven of the suites exceed 80 square metres, while the expansive 140-square-metre Royal Presidential Suite includes two bedrooms, a private kitchenette, and a dedicated meeting room. Several guestrooms also offer private balconies overlooking the city.

Culinary Excellence and Legendary Nightlife

The hotel’s food and beverage offerings re-establish several iconic institutions while introducing new dining concepts to the city:

  • Bombay Brasserie: Led by Executive Chef Nilesh Dangwal—whose career spans the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai and Taj Dubai—the restaurant serves authentic North Indian cuisine alongside international influences. It accommodates 60 guests indoors and 45 on its seasonal summer terrace.

  • Jimmy’s Bar: A beloved fixture of Frankfurt’s nightlife, the historic bar retains its intimate ambiance, classic cocktails, and live piano performances under the leadership of Bar Manager Emmanuel Saridakis.

  • Lobby Bar: An elegant all-day venue offering premium teas, artisanal coffees, and delicate pastries.

Holistic Wellness and Exclusive Privileges

For guests seeking relaxation, the J Wellness Circle brings Taj’s signature wellbeing approach to Frankfurt. Drawing inspiration from ancient Ayurvedic traditions and modern therapeutic techniques, the facility includes a fully equipped gym, private treatment suites, two saunas, and two steam rooms.

In addition, the property introduces The Chambers to Continental Europe for the first time. This exclusive members-only business club features three interconnected areas, a private meeting room, dedicated concierge services, and a bespoke event calendar.

Leadership and Global Vision

Commenting on the milestone, Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & CEO of IHCL, stated:

“Recognised as the World’s Strongest Hotel Brand 2025, Taj comprises a portfolio of over 150 hotels across 15 countries… The opening of Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt marks our entry into Continental Europe and aligns with our strategy of expanding in key gateway cities globally.”

Mr. Albert Mayr, General Manager, Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, said,

“Taj Hessischer Hof draws from its aristocratic provenance which has been thoughtfully reimagined for today’s traveller. We are proud to reintroduce this living legacy blending European heritage with the essence of Indian hospitality and look forward to welcoming our guests.”

Ultimately, the arrival of Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt bridges the gap between classic German heritage and world-class Indian hospitality, creating a sophisticated new destination for international travelers and local residents alike.
