Located at the prestigious address of No. 1 Park Lane, the InterContinental London Park Lane stands as a beacon of modern luxury on the site of the former childhood residence of Queen Elizabeth II. My recent stay was a journey through refined elegance, world-class gastronomy, and a level of service that truly defines the “InterContinental Life.”

First Impression
Stepping into the InterContinental London Park Lane, my first impression was truly exceptional, starting right at the majestic entrance. In a city where luxury hotels are plentiful, it is the human element that sets a property apart. I was immediately greeted by Panny, who, remarkably, remembered me from a visit back in 2023 and 2024—a truly personal touch that made me feel instantly valued and recognized. It wasn’t just a greeting; it felt like a homecoming.
Moving to the front desk, Melissa continued the warm welcome with her friendly and efficient assistance. She then escorted me for a private check-in at the InterContinental Club Lounge. This exclusive sanctuary allowed me to bypass the main lobby’s bustle, relaxing comfortably with a glass of champagne while the final touches were put on my room. This level of attentive and personalised service upon arrival is simply amazing. It is clear that the culture here is built on anticipation and genuine care. Kudos to Sholto Crawford-Smith and his entire team for setting such a high standard right from the start!

Ultra-Luxurious Prestige Suite on the Mayfair Floor
When the doors opened to my Prestige Suite on the Mayfair Floor, I was greeted by an expansive 77 sq mt haven of sophistication. This is not just a room; it is a meticulously designed residence. The suite boasts separate living and dining areas, providing a residential feel that is perfect for either relaxing after a day in the city or entertaining guests.
The thoughtful layout includes an additional restroom for guests, a dedicated make-up area for seamless morning preparations, and a massive walk-in closet that could easily accommodate an extended stay’s wardrobe. The master bathroom is a sanctuary in itself, featuring a double vanity, a deep-soaking separate bathtub, and a spacious walk-in shower. However, the pièce de résistance is the view. Large windows offer a breathtaking panorama overlooking the lush Royal Parks and the historic Wellington Arch, serving as a constant reminder of the hotel’s enviable location at the heart of Mayfair.
Club InterContinental
Experience world-class service in the Club InterContinental lounge, situated high above the bustling streets. The lounge is an oasis of calm where Hanna provided an excellent introductory tour, ensuring I knew exactly how to make the most of the facilities.
The culinary offerings here are nothing short of unforgettable. During the day, one can enjoy all-day refreshments in a quiet, sophisticated atmosphere. However, the lounge truly shines between 5 pm and 7 pm. As you glide into the evening, you are treated to champagne and a bespoke selection of cocktails. This is accompanied by a tantalizing array of hot and cold canapés that are as visually stunning as they are delicious. Watching the sun set over the Royal Parks, with views stretching toward Buckingham Palace, while sipping a perfectly chilled glass of champagne is a luxury unlike anywhere else in London.
THEO RANDALL CUCINA ITALIANA
Dinner at Theo Randall’s namesake restaurant is a mandatory pilgrimage for any lover of authentic Italian cuisine. The atmosphere is upscale yet inviting, focusing heavily on the purity and quality of ingredients. My meal was a carefully curated journey through some of the kitchen’s most celebrated dishes.
For the Antipasti, I started with the Calamari in Padella. The pan-fried squid was tender and perfectly charred, balanced by the creaminess of cannellini beans and a subtle kick from chilli and anchovies. The addition of fresh parsley and chopped rocket provided a bright, peppery finish that awakened the palate.
The Primi course was a standout: Ravioli di Aragosta. These delicate parcels of fresh handmade pasta were filled with sweet, succulent Dorset blue lobster. Served in a rich tomato and shellfish broth, the dish captured the essence of the sea in every bite.
For the Secondi-di Pesce, I chose the Branzino al Forno. The pan-roasted sea bass fillet featured a wonderfully crisp skin and flaky white meat. It was accompanied by tender asparagus, Italian spinach, and earthy porcini mushrooms. A delicate white wine sauce infused with thyme tied the components together, creating a harmonious and sophisticated main course. It is easy to see why Theo Randall remains one of London’s most decorated Italian dining destinations.
IN-ROOM DINING
There is a specific joy in “breakfast in bed” when the backdrop is Park Lane. The in-room dining service was prompt and the presentation was flawless. I opted for the Full English Breakfast, which arrived piping hot. The eggs were poached to perfection, accompanied by high-quality sausages, crisp bacon, and artisanal sourdough. Enjoying a fresh pot of coffee while watching the morning mist rise over Hyde Park from the comfort of my dining area was the ultimate way to start the day in total privacy and peace.
Elizabethan Royal Afternoon Tea
Paying homage to the hotel’s royal heritage, the Elizabethan Royal Afternoon Tea is a masterclass in British tradition. Served in the elegant Wellington Lounge, the experience is a choreographed dance of finger sandwiches, delicate pastries, and warm scones. The flavors are inspired by the gardens of the UK, featuring seasonal preserves and clotted cream. The tea selection is vast, but the sparkling wine flight added a contemporary celebratory touch. It is a refined, leisurely affair that feels both historic and refreshingly modern.
SUNDAY BRUNCH
My stay culminated in a spectacular Sunday Brunch, a bountiful buffet experience designed to suit every preference, whether you are dining solo or with loved ones. The selection was vast, ranging from light, delightful salads and refined à la carte options to a full, traditional experience featuring a premier Sunday Roast selection.
The absolute highlight for me was the signature Beef Wellington. This dish is steeped in history; the most popular theory traces its origins back to Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington, who famously defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. It is widely believed that the dish was named in his honor—perhaps because the golden, pastry-wrapped shape resembles the polished military boots he wore in battle, the iconic “Wellingtons.” Tasting it here, overlooking the very arch dedicated to his victory, felt like a true full-circle moment of my London journey.
Stefano's Verdict
My verdict on staying at the InterContinental London Park Lane is unequivocally positive. The Ultra-Luxurious Prestige Suite on the Mayfair Floor, an expansive 77 sq mt haven, was simply magnificent. The separate living and dining areas, guest restroom, make-up area, and huge walk-in closet offered unparalleled comfort and convenience. The bathroom, with its double vanity, separate bathtub, and spacious shower, was a sanctuary.
Beyond the suite, the dining experience at Theo Randall Cucina Italiana was exceptional, and the in-room breakfast was delivered flawlessly. The Royal Elizabethan Afternoon Tea was a truly special and memorable occasion. The entire team, led by Sholto Crawford-Smith, provided incredible service from arrival to departure, making this a truly memorable and luxurious stay.
