While the eyes of the world were turned toward the hallowed grass of SW19, a different kind of tennis tradition was being celebrated in the heart of the city. The Taj London annual Wimbledon-inspired summer gathering has become a cherished staple of the social calendar—a moment in time where the vibrant spirit of the season is captured perfectly through refined hospitality and the company of valued guests and friends of Taj.
This year’s event transformed the TH@51 Courtyard into an oasis of calm amidst the summer bustle. Indeed, the evening was defined by the clinking of glasses, warm conversation, and the effortless charm that defines the Taj experience. However, the party offered more than just an escape; it served as the venue for a significant announcement regarding the future of the iconic property.
A Vision for the Future
During the festivities, guests had the privilege of hearing from Corinna Luebbe, the Cluster General Manager. As she engaged with attendees, she shared an inspiring vision for the property’s trajectory. Most notably, she provided an update that marks the conclusion of a massive, multi-year refurbishment across both St. James’ Court, A Taj Hotel and its sister property, Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences.
Essentially, this transformation touches almost every facet of the guest experience. The hotel has unveiled a completely refreshed lobby and entrance, setting an immediate tone of modern elegance upon arrival. Furthermore, the culinary experience has been elevated with the introduction of 1897 – The Bar, a sophisticated new space that is already becoming a talking point for residents and visitors alike.
Redefining Luxury Spaces
In addition to the public spaces, the refurbishment has breathed new life into the functional areas of the hotel. Meeting and event rooms have been fully redesigned, blending contemporary functionality with the brand’s signature aesthetic. Moreover, the brand has focused on exclusivity by expanding Taj The Chambers, its renowned private members club.
For the connoisseurs, the property has also introduced new whisky and cigar lounges. Consequently, these additions cater to those seeking a quiet, intimate atmosphere to unwind after a long day.
A Partnership in Design
This ambitious design project was led by Conran and Partners. Importantly, this collaboration builds upon the studio’s long-standing relationship with the brand. Previously, Conran and Partners have successfully lent their expertise to Taj The Chambers and the popular TH@51 restaurant and bar, as well as various other projects across Taj Hotels globally. Therefore, their involvement ensures that the new aesthetic feels both fresh and authentically aligned with the Taj brand identity.
Ultimately, the Wimbledon Summer Party 2026 was not just a celebration of the season; it was a testament to the brand’s commitment to evolution. As the property enters this new chapter, it seamlessly bridges the gap between classic heritage and modern luxury, ensuring that every guest experience remains as timeless as the sport that inspired the evening.
