First Impression

Stepping into Ormer Mayfair was like entering a world of refined elegance, a stark contrast to the bustling London streets outside. The soft, ambient lighting and plush, comfortable seating immediately created an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. The restaurant’s design, a seamless blend of classic and contemporary, exuded a quiet luxury that spoke of understated excellence.

The attentive staff, with their warm smiles and impeccable service, made me feel instantly welcomed. There was a sense of calm efficiency that permeated the space, a promise of a dining experience that would be both pleasurable and seamless. The anticipation for the Michelin-starred cuisine was palpable, heightened by the elegant surroundings and the quiet hum of contented diners.

TASTING MENU

Stefano's Verdict

My culinary journey through the TASTING MENU at Ormer Mayfair was a symphony of flavors, a meticulously orchestrated performance that showcased the restaurant’s Michelin-starred prowess. The canapés, delicate morsels of artistry, set the stage for an evening of gastronomic exploration. The warm Ibérico ham jelly, a surprising burst of savory richness, was perfectly balanced by the crisp parmesan and tangy apple.

The cured Cornish mackerel, with its delicate sesame and kombu notes, was a testament to the kitchen’s mastery of seafood. The roast rack of Cumbrian lamb, tender and succulent, was elevated by the unexpected yet delightful pairing of wasabi, cucumber, and lime. Each dish was a study in balance, a harmonious blend of textures and tastes.

The cheese trolley, an iconic spectacle, was a highlight, a curated selection that spoke to the restaurant’s dedication to quality and provenance. The Caramelia and malt ‘gateaux’, a decadent finale, was a masterclass in dessert craftsmanship, the honey vinegar adding a delightful tang to the sweet indulgence.

The ‘petit bun’ and sweets, a playful conclusion, left a lingering impression of warmth and generosity. Ormer Mayfair is not merely a restaurant; it’s an experience, a celebration of culinary artistry that lingers long after the final course.
